Vibraphone

Clockwork vibraphone owned by James Blades. Compass 2.5 octaves C-F. 30 plated steel bars suspended over 30 tubular resonators. Vibraphone rotors mounted on common axles, belt-driven by a clockwork motor. Sprung pedal to lower damper away from bars. Wooden frame mounted on metal trolley with casters. Clockwork motor with crank handle, attached to right hand front leg. Inscriptions: Lowest two bars stamped, 'J.C. DEAGAN INC. CHICAGO MADE IN USA'. Lowest bar stamped, 'DEAGAN No.30 VIBRA-HARP. REG. US PAT OFFICE'. Stamped on lowest A A = 440. Fitted canvas cover for bars. Associated with carrying bag with vibraphone parts, 2012.541.
