Ocarina. Clay, 20c. Pear-shaped, with the slit mouthpiece at the apex. Duct and finger-holes; four finger-holes on the upper side. The underside of the instrument is moulded into the shape of a face with a nose and an open mouth, the mouth being a thumbhole. There are two small slits for the eyes of the face, but these are not incised right through the surface. The whistle hole is on this side also. Black ceramic pottery. A maker's stamp, 'W92', is incised into the surface. A black thread runs through two holes at the mouthpiece end of the instrument.
