Walnut; harp shaped top, projecting keyboard with hinged sloping cover, comprising five octaves, white naturals and black accidentals, inlaid in holly with the inscription 'Thomas Hitchcock Londini fecit No.1484'. Iron hinges and locks. Mounted on a modern four-legged stand. The naturals are ivory covered and fronted with ivory arcades, and the sharps are of ebony with a fillet of ivory inlaid in their upper surface. The case if of walnut with a double curve bentside. The jack-rail, nameboard and inner faces of the spinet are inlaid with harewood stringing. The wrest-plank is veneered with walnut rather than in the spruce of the soundboard. There are three engraved strap-hinges.
