Amulet (omamori) in the form of a hard shell-shaped pouch (with contents), made with brocaded silk with motifs of flowers on a red background; the shell is edged with a multi-coloured cord. A metal ring passes through the top of the shell and on which hang a green plaited cord (used to attach the amulet in use), a golden plaque in the shape of ancient Japanese coins (with the place-names, Amanohashidate and Monju-do, and the function of the amulet, for safe travel and a good intellect) and a bell.
