kaval

Flute or kaval (folk flute), in three pieces, each of turned wood with regular bands of incised horizontal lines, white bone at upper end of each piece, the bone inlaid with lines in black composition and horizontal circles in red. Middle part (b) has seven finger holes on front, and one thumb hole at rear. Lower part (c) has four finger holes. Inscriptions on each piece round the top of the bone, done in dots formed of drilled holes inlaid with black composition.
