Whistle figurine

This figure stands with legs apart, arms by the sides with hands resting on the front of the body. The legs and arms are short in comparison with the rest of the body. Small grooves define the hands and feet. The figure has a large head which sits directly upon the shoulders. The eyes, nose and ears have been roughly modelled and the mouth is defined by an incised line. The figure wears circular ear ornaments and a nose ring. Incised lines encircle the legs, waist and neckline. Two lines run down the chin and two across the face. Another line runs around the forehead ending in a v above the nose. Above this runs a horizontal groove. Two holes are inset into the top of the thighs and a further hole can be found on top of the head. The object is made from earthenware which is dark grey in colour. A red pigment covers the torso and a yellow piugment has been applied around the top of each leg, the forehead and either side of the face. The top of the head is darker in colour and has a smooth shiny teaxture. The rest of the figure is matt.
