whistle
Double-chambered whistling bottle; narrow vertical bridge, tall spout, globular chambers and flat base. Bird with outstretched wings surmounts one spout; vertical bridge features geometric pattern of interlacing triangles - excised appearance but mould-made. Vertical mould seams down sides; whole vessel formed in single two-part mould, then bird added incorporating the modelled whistling mechanism? Burnished surface; wipe marks evident where black coating worn off; base likely also burnished but now worn. Black with sooty and pale grey patches on one side; pale fabric shows through in many places.
