Flute

Flute made of bamboo, wood, clay or mud, shells, hair and fibre. Two rectangular finger holes have been cut in the bamboo tube. At the top of the tube is set a carved wooden face covered with a thin layer of grey mud or clay, with cowrie shells set into the surface for eyes and four rows of cowrie shells set on brown clay(?) on the forehead. There are tufts of black hair on the top of the head. There is a tight piece of woven rattan fibre binding the wooden head to the bamboo flute and a loose right of fibre (possibly a carrying strap(?) fastened round the bamboo tube just below the head.
