Trough zither: musical instrument in the shape of an oblong wooden dish hollowed from the solid, the ends curving very slightly upwards. Through the solid part of at the ends are holes drilled perpendicularly for strings, which would pass over a bridge at either end, consisting of a piece of cane bent and the ends placed into holes at the side of the instrument. There is an opening in the shape of a star in the bottom.
