Father Smith Organ Case

The case of the previous main Cathedral organ, known as the ‘Father Smith Organ’, which was built in 1686. This organ was dismantled in 1873 prior to the building of the Harrison and Harrison organ. The Choir organ case and some pipes were moved to the chapel of Durham Castle. The west-facing organ case is now positioned in the south aisle at the west end of the Cathedral.
