Violin

Unfinished violin made after Maggini, Brescia school. One-piece top made of spruce (Picea abies (L.) H. Karst). Two-piece back, scroll, neck, and ribs made of maple. Fingerboard and saddle made of ebony. Double purfling. Back seam is cleated on inside. The Latin inscription on the back may be translated to: "In the woods, I lived in silence; now dead, I sing."
