Division viol
back: flat, half cut at shoulder, 3 pieces of sycamore with double purfling and inlaid decoration of same. Ribs: similar wood. Belly: 2 pieces of wide-grained pine, arched and slightly recovered at the edge, with double purfling; each C-hole (106mm) outlined with single line of purfling. Tailpiece fingerboard: ebony veneer inlaid with satin- and rosewood decoration. Neck: figured sycamore with strip of wider marked wood added along the sides below the fingerboard; tip end spliced into head. Nut: ebony (later). Pegbox: 6 (later) boxwood pegs with ebony knobs; at the throat above the pegs a pine dowel. Inside a big sound post and a small bass-bar, a wide transverse bar on the back and narrow longitudinal strips supporting the joints, and a fabric strip across the shoulder; linings and corner blocks as in cello
