Viola da gamba
back: flat, 2 pieces of fairly wide flamed maple angled slightly downwards from the middle; varnish golden brown oil, widely crackled. Belly: pine, in 2 pieces, but joined under the rh foot of the bridge and over the soundpost; C-holes wide, 123 long; edges not very rounded, plates rather thin. Ribs: maple. Fingerboard, tailpiece in boxwood and ebony; string nut and end-hook in ebony. Head: open pierced scroll with well-proportioned boss; pegbox with 6 modern rosewood pegs. Inside: bass-bar ?original; 2 transverse bars. Length of back: 680, width 317 / 220 / 390, depth 123 / 102
