Bass clarinet. Nominal pitch: B♭.

Technical description: Blackwood with german silver ferrules and keywork. Five pieces: mouthpiece, goose-neck crook, upper section, lower section, upturned bell. Ebonite mouthpiece with a long table, ligature and wooden reed-cap. Crook has device for music card holder. Two speakers: one with tone-hole on the crook to overblow. Second speaker for throat B♭, which would be out of tune when operated with the same speaker. All tone-holes covered. Additional side key for E♭₃/B♭₄. Lower section: shaped thumbrest with sling ring. Metal bell carries tone-hole and key-head for the lowest note. Music card holder indicates that the instrument was equipped for military or marching band use. L0: Plate; speaker 1; speaker 2. Upper speaker key has plate covering repair and there are numerous plates carrying pillars where a crack has gone through original pillar hole.
