Clarinet. Nominal pitch: B♭.

Technical description: Grained boxwood (or fruitwood) with ivory ferrules, ivory thumbrest, and brass keys; Five pieces: mouthpiece, barrel, upper section, lower section, bell. Barrel waisted, with tenon for socket on mouthpiece. Upper section: extra cross-key for F₄/C♮₆; speaker straight, liner projecting into bore. Lower section: thumbrest ivory, shaped, screwed to body. Bell long, gently flaring, with integral wood rim. Ferrules ivory, parabolic on bell, half-round on lower section, tapered with rim on barrel. L0: T; speaker. L1: T; throatA♮; throatA♭. L2: T; cross F₄/C♮₆. L3: T; E♭₄/B♭₅. L4: C♯₄/G♯₅; E₃/B♮₄; F♯₃/C♯₅. R1: T; side F₄/C♮₆; trill key for throatA-B♮ and throat B♭-C. R2: T. R3: T; B♭₃/F♮₅; side B♮₃/F♯₅. R4: F₃/C₅; G♯₃/E♭₅. Keymount type: blocks except for G♯₃/E♭₅ and F₄/C₆ keys for R4 which are screwed-in pillars and screws; leaf springs. Keyhead type: shallow domed cups. Repair History: The barrel is probably a replacement; the top tenon is unusual on a Continental clarinet and the bore is 1.6mm less than that of the upper section, it probably has shrunk.
