Technical description: Soundboard of spruce; back, ribs, head and neck of sycamore; fingerboard and tailpiece of ebony; pegs and endpin of rosewood; tail-gut protector of fruitwood. A trade instrument with a false inscription. The instrument has had much use, the varnish has been worn away from where the chin rests against the soundboard, the treble upper bout varnish is worn through in places, the bass upper bout at the side and treble lower bout are all lighter than the red varnish elsewhere. Arch of soundboard 13mm, of back 12.5mm. The back is of two pieces with a light figure rising from the edges to the centre. Ebony/sycamore/ebony purfling on the soundboard and the back. One piece head and neck. Neck length 132; fingerboard length 271, width at nut 23.2, at bottom 41.4.
