Set of bagpipes, Lowland Scottish.
Technical description: 15¼-inch chanter probably in G, fruitwood mounted with an ivory sole, with a portion of the circumference cut away to give a flat section, and a simple funnel-shaped turning at the neck; the chanter does not match the stock at the tenon. Stock, approximately 90mm mounted with bone and horn ferrules. Three drones are set in a common stock; bass drone with three sections, tenor drones each with two sections; fruitwood, ivory mounted, plainly turned except for combing rings set in pairs by ferrules and mounts, and the top sections are all turned with raised beadings in pairs in the style of tuning cord mounts on the Highland bagpipe. Diameter of drone stock slightly tapering to 51mm over its length. Bellows stock and connecting pipe set in the side of the bag, mounted with horn and ivory. Short, deep bag with a long neck to the chanter, canvas material with a sheepskin welt sewn over the seam.
