Technical description: Soundboard of bookmatched spruce, generally medium-wide grain which gets closer towards the edges. Bridge of stained fruitwood with a brass saddle. The main part of the bridge is 91mm long at the front, and 24mm wide in the centre, with the rear curving and having extensions ending in heart-shaped pieces of fruitwood topped with mother-of-pearl. The soundhole is 76.5mm diameter. The purfling around the soundhole has a band of fruitwood at the edge of the soundhole, then alternate strips of maple and fruitwood (two of each), then a black mastic with a repeating pattern of one long and two small diamonds in mother-of-pearl, then alternate strips of maple and fruitwood (two of each). The purfling around the outside of the soundboard consists of an edging of fruitwood, and then alternate strips of maple and fruitwood (two of each), three adjacent strips of fruitwood, and then further alternate strips of maple and fruitwood (two of each). The back and sides are of bookmatched cherry. There is a parallel piece of fruitwood at the bottom of the sides with an ebony endpin. The back is noticeably curved over its length and width. The wood used for the back was worm eaten before being cut and used, as evidenced by the matching filled holes. The heel, neck and head are of black stained wood, probably maple. The heel and neck join at a sharp angle, and there is a square join between the head and neck. The head is figure of eight shaped. There are six ebony friction pegs. The nut is ebony. The fingerboard is black stained fruitwood with brass bar frets. The neck is 307mm long, 45mm wide at the nut and 57mm wide at the body join. The fingerboard is glued to the top surface of the soundboard. There are 20frets.
