Technical description: Soundboard of spruce, bookmatched. Bridge of maple with inlaid metal saddle in the top. Soundhole 68mm diameter. Purfling around the soundhole consists of thin strips of ebony and maple, then a half-herringbone ebony and maple pattern, then a thin strip of maple and two strips of ebony, then a maple strip, a design of squares of ebony and maple, then thin maple and ebony strips. There is then a wide band of black mastic with inlaid mother-of-pearl designs, and then thin bands of ebony and maple, the ebony and maple squares design and thin bands of maple and ebony. There is then a band of soundboard wood and then thin strips of ebony and maple, the half-herringbone design in ebony and maple, and then thin strips of maple and ebony. The purfling around the edge of the soundboard consists of thin strips of ebony and maple, then a thin half- herringbone pattern, a wide half-herringbone pattern (both in the same direction) and a thin half-herringbone pattern in the opposite direction, then thin strips of maple and ebony. Following a band of soundboard wood there is another thin strip of ebony. The back and sides are of rosewood. The sides are of two pieces, with a band of maple at the bottom edges with alternate strips of maple and ebony, similar to the soundhole purfling. There is a metal (nickel) plate which is attached to the instrument via the endpin, and with twelve pins for the strings.The heel, neck and head appear to be of mahogany. The head terminates with a sickle type scroll. There is a fanning metal screw turn tuning mechanism on the head. The top of the head is veneered with olivewood. The nut is ivory. The radiused fingerboard if rosewood with metal frets, 17 in total. The neck is 163mm long, 41mm wide at the nut and 48.5mm wide at the body join. The fingerboard is 290mm long at the edge.
