Alto violin (British nomenclature, alto violin).

Technical description: Soundboard of spruce; back, ribs, head and neck of maple; fingerboard and tail-gut protector of ebony, tailpiece, pegs and endpin of rosewood. Dyed pear/poplar/dyed pear purfling, ebony plugged holes just inside the purfling at each of the points. Orange varnish. Arch of soundboard 20mm, of back 20mm. Back has good figure. Ebony plugged holes in each point, and offset plugged holes at the top and bottom. Tailpiece angled on top rather than curved. Head and neck of one piece. Neck length 169; fingerboard length 351, width at nut 27.2, at bottom 51.1.
