Technical description: Boxwood with ivory ferrules and brass keys. Five pieces: mouthpiece, barrel, upper section, lower section, bell.Mouthpiece of dark wood grooved with 11grooves for cord.Barrel hardly waisted, two ivory ferrules, one half-round, one flat, both ornamented with grooves.Upper section: All blocks strengthened with brass pins. Speaker liner projects almost to centre of bore.Lower section: wide half-round ferrule, no thumb key. Levers for L4, tone-hole and key for R4 mounted in a bell-shaped swelling.Bell: hardly continuous. Half-round rim on bell.All tone-holes under keys are lined with brass (Wood's patent of 1800). Repair History: The flare at the wide end of the lower section seems to have been enlarged to suit a wide bell.
