Tenor trombone. Nominal pitch: B♭.

Technical description: Brass, content copper and zinc with traces of iron, lead, nickel and manganese. Semicircular bow shapes; long tuning-slide, allowing increase in air-column length of c254mm. Tubular stays on slides and at joint of bell section; narrow flat-section stays on movable tuning-slide bow and between the outer slides on the bell section which receive the tuning-slide. The method of seaming has not so far been established, but in both bell and slides seams can be detected by traces of small spherical pits as of inclusions, while there is not the colour change which would be associated with the use of solder or a brazing alloy. No stockings; garland width 20mm.
