Dulcimer.
Technical description: Oblong box. Sides of solid mahogany. Soundboard and baseboard of veneered mahogany, thickness 3. Bridges of beech. 12 strings in 4 sets of three. Hitchpins made from iron nails. Square-headed tuning-pins diameter 5.1. Two sound-holes diameter 37. The right-hand bridge has blue paint on it, done after the instrument was strung for each of the string groupings, with the chord names G, A, and D under three of the sets.
