Set of Great Highland bagpipes

Technical description: Set of Highland bagpipes, full size, with chanter, blowpipe, mouthpiece, bass and tenor drones. Cocus with ivory ferrules, tops, and sole; engraved silver slides consistent with the vintage of the pipes, and possibly original. Modern sheepskin bag and plastic mouthpiece. Blowpipe and chanter are turned with decorative lines and rings; bulbs at centre joints.Chanter: Ebony, ivory mounted, carrying a silver shield at lower end. Not original, but of the same vintage as the set, added by the previous owner. Seven finger-holes and one thumb-hole. Lapped tenon with bulb. Ivory sole and ferrule on stock.Blowpipe/mouthpiece: black plastic mouthpiece on original blowpipe. Lapped tenons. Ivory ferrule on stock.Bass Drone: three sections. Ivory top. Bone ferrules.Tenor drone1: two sections. Ivory top. Bone ferrules. Ferrule on centre section cracked and repaired with filler.Tenor drone 2: two sections. Ivory top and replacement bushing taken from an identical set of the same vintage. Bone or ivory ferrule at stock; ivory ferrule at centre section. The ivory ferrule is possibly newer than the other ferrules on the instrument.Bag: modern leather bag marked on the welt.Bag cover/cord: red tartan woollen cover with matching cord.Measurements: chanter length 365, conical bore beginning at 5.0 and ending at 21.4; bass drone length 660; tenor drones length 320. Repair History: New bag and bag cover; plastic replacement mouthpiece; replacement valve of white plastic. The silver shield on chanter replaced by a modern silversmith.
