Trumpet

One of a pair of trumpets. Silver, stamped with the London assay mark for 1908, and the maker's mark, D.K. G.K., in a square cartouche, on the bells, the bell rims, the rubes and the mouthpieces. The bell rims are embossed with stylised floral decoration. The applied mounts and knops on the tubes are also decorated with embossed, stylised motifs. Pitch of the instruments: E flat. Each with a blue silk trumpet banner, painted with the arms of Tate. William Henry Tate was the eldest son of Sir Henry Tate, founder of the Liverpool-based sugar-refining business of Tate and Lyle.
