Gusle and bow

Belly of calfskin, with nine holes pierced in the centre, stretched over wooden frame and secured with wooden nails. Head, neck and back composed of single piece of sycamore, decorated all over with small circular scorch marks, the back shaped and painted in five 'ribs' with scrolling floral design in black and red, the central 'rib' pierced with a cross-shaped hole. Carved head, resembling that of a horse, the flat front of the head painted with floral decoration and a 'pseudo' shield of arms in red and green. Single thick black horsehair string, held by large curved wooden peg through the top of the neck. Curved bow of sycamore with single thick string of black horsehair.
