Musical box

Rectangular case, veneered all over with mahogany, the front, back and sides decorated with an applied, 'combed' varnish. Top of lid inlaid with four lines of light wood stringing. Interior of case stained red. Cylinder and comb, with key-wind mechanism on barrel on left hand side. Geneva stopwork mechanism missing from barrel. Speed governed by worm-driven fly on right-hand side. Three on/off/adjuster levers located on left-hand side, concealed by hinged left side of case. Narrow compartment on right-hand side of case holds wooden-handled key. Serial number "27450" stamped on brass bed plate. No glass cover. Plays six tunes, detailed on tune-sheet attached to underside of lid.
