Keyed bugle

Copper with brass keys, mouthpiece & 'border round rum'. The Irish bandmaster, Halliday, patented the keyed bugle in 1810 & for some 30 years it was exclusively used in military bands & occasionally in orchestras until it was superseded by the valved cornet & flugelhorn.
