French horn.

Technical description: Brass. Single gusset in bell; single ferrule-covered joint in bell pipe at 520mm from 3rd valve exit ferrule and 925mm from the bell end. Bell rim without garland, with bezel soldered on outside (Mainz rim). Ferrules between 1st and 2nd valves and 2nd and 3rd valves. The main tuning slide is short, with length of the shorter leg only 22mm. Shorter leg lengths of valve tuning-slides 108, 22, 108. Loop in 3rd valve tuning-slide. Two reinforcement strips on inside of corpus tubing. Finger-hook for L4.; Type or system: 3 valves. Valve type: 3 short Périnet valves, bottom-sprung with alignment by screw through casing running in slot at foot of piston. Windway runs straight through valves when they are not operated; the valve ports are at 90°, with the valve loops running directly underneath each valve making the alignment screws inaccessible.
