Technical description: Brass; circumferentially seamed bell flare; French bell rim. Fixed mouthpipe; inventionshorn-type main tuning-slide with loop. Thumb- and finger-hooks for L0 and L4.; Nominal pitch: F / E♭.; Type or system: 3 valves.; Valve type: 3 Berlin-type valves actuated by pivoted levers which raise the pistons rather than depress them; cork buffers attached to top caps, a screw-head on the piston meets the buffer through the spring. The valve ports are in a single plane with entry and exit ports adjacent and valve loop ports adjacent. Gradations on valve tuning-slides indicate that there was originally an alternative main tuning-slide. Usable pitch: The extant main tuning-slide was probably supplied for use at circa A₄=|435|Hz.
