Military side drum
Military side drum with emblazoned, and silver-plated brass shell with wooden counterhoops, 14-inch skin heads, and rope-tensioned with British style white leather braces (round edge, white, with vellum lace), and drag-rope. The counterhoops have 8 drilled holes and chrome-plated saddles through which the tensioning rope passes. J-hook screw style snare strainer with 6 gut snares and a hallmarked silver nut. The batter head has 3 metal feet painted in red. Associated with the 1st Battalion, The Buffs. This instrument belonged to the collection of the former Buffs Regimental Museum.
