Clarinet in B-flat
Clarinet made of dark wood in five sections (mouthpiece, barrel, top and bottom body joints, and bell), and thirteen nickel-silver, early modern style cup keys mounted in posts with rods. Wrap-around register key. Straight throat A-flat key. Cross key for B3/F5-sharp instead of side key. Flat and needle springs attached to keys and cork paddings. Nickel-silver ferrules, and pinned nickel-silver bell rim. Wooden mouthpiece, and silver-plated ligature and mouthpiece-cap. Clarinet associated with Bandsman William Taylor Bunting, from the 12th Battalion, York and Lancaster Regiment. Pte Bunting volunteered in 1915 and was possibly a stretcher bearer. He served in the Battle of the Somme and possibly in the Serre district, and returned home in 1919.
