Kettledrum
Kettle drum, copper, 1860 (c); used by the 17th (Duke of Cambridge’s Own) Lancers; hemispherical body with straight sides; shell tensioning handle on side impressed with maker’s mark above, Henry Potter and Co, London; flattened wooden flesh hoop with eight iron hooks for tensioning attachment and two square loops on either side; split head; bulbous circular disc braised on bottom to support tripod base legs.
