Hunting horn

Hunting horn, 1896-1915. Copper. Used by the 1st Battalion Royal Munster Fusiliers during World War One. Straight tube, flaring out towards bell with silver binding, inscribed on upper surface with owners name, Lieutenant Colonel Tonson-Rye and battle honours. Mouthpiece bound with silver and hallmarked London. This horn is believed to have been used to rally the battalion when it became dispersed during the Battle of Le Catelet, 4 Oct 1918.
