Turkish crescent

Turkish crescent, or jingling johnny, 1812 (c) Brass, vertical iron rod with bells spheres and crescents attached; Napoleonic eagle finial on dome attached to twisted tube. This musical instrument was taken by the 88th (Connaught Rangers) at the Battle of Salamanca. Associated with the Battle of Salamanca, Peninsular War (1808-1814), 1812.
