Drum

Ashanti talking drum and sticks taken at Kumasi by the expedition led by Col Sir Francis Scott. Includes skulls, bones and textiles. Used for processions and ceremonies. It is believed that the bones tied to the instrument were used to amplify the ‘soul’ of the drum, making it more potent and powerful. Associated with the 3rd Ashanti War (1895-1896).
