Banjo
Open-back, fretless banjo with large circular-rim body and calfskin membrane. Wooden rim and short neck. Brass tone ring with twelve wing-nut, chrome-plated, tension rod-screws and claws (one missing). Seven friction, wooden tuning pegs (six at the back of the peghead, one at the side of the neck) with seven modern ball-end steel strings. Brass guide pin for 7th string. Wooden nut and arched bridge. Conch-shell-shaped, wooden tailpiece attached to the spike with string. This instrument is part of the Albert C. Spencer collection.
