Snare drum
This snare drum is made of wood, with a skin head. There were originally two snares on this instrument, both of which are now missing. Unusually the snares were mounted on top of the playing had, rather than underneath as more than usual. This is part of a set of percussion instruments intended for children known as "The National Jazz Band/The Little Jewel Outfit/A 'National Band' Product". The full set contains miniature/toy versions of many of the instruments used in a jazz drum kit during the 1920s.
