Electric bagpipe practice chanter
This "Piob Beag” electronic bagpipe was produced by Iolaire Technology in the north of Scotland in the early part of the 21st century. The sound of the instrument is completely electronically produced, and is controlled by electroconductive metal pads arranged in the manner of finger holes on a conventional bagpipe chanter. In addition to a built-in speaker, the instrument has various controls for volume and different bagpipe sounds, and features quartz crystal tuned circuitry. A version was made with a MIDI interface which allowed the Piob Beag to be used as a synthesiser controller.
