Clarinet
This instrument was sold to Bandmaster Pearce in 1908. It was bought for Pupil Spanholtz, from the 1st Hampshire Regiment, who later became Bandmaster of 2/K.O.Y.L.I. (King's Own Yorkshire Light Infantry), 1924-34. It is a clarinet made entirely of ebonite in four sections (barrel, upper joint, lower joint, and bell) with nickel-silver ferrules and keywork. It has thirteen cylinder-cup keys, mounted in posts with rods, with flat and needle springs attached to keys and posts. There is a brille key at the lower joint (ring-key), a straight throat A-flat key, and the register key is on the front of the body. The tenons are wrapped in thread. It has an ebonite mouthpiece. Nominal pitch: B-flat.
