Cavalry trumpet

This trumpet lay in the wreck of S.S. "The Pomeranian," which was torpedoed off Portland Bill on April 15, 1917. It was found in 1977 by Mr. F. C. McDonnell MM. BEM, whilst skin-diving. After 60 years underwater, the instrument was totally barnacle encrusted, but after a restoration, it was used to sound the Last Post and Reveille on Remembrance Day in 1977. It is a double-coiled, cavalry trumpet made entirely of brass, with a brass mouthpiece. Nominal pitch: 6-foot F.
