The frog, with inlaid silver ring and mother-of-pearl eye, is made of ebony, and silver is used overall for the ferrule, underslide and heel plates, button and face. The slide is made of mother-of-pearl. Silver wire wrapping and a black thumb leather protect the octagonal handle. 'C.B.R.' is inscribed onto the ferrule.
