Notched flute

Notched flute. The body of antelope horn is held vertically, with the wide opening uppermost, acting as a mouth hole. A notch is cut into the rim at the front, which is wide and has sloping side edges. Below the rim, the outer surface is decorated with a line of red beads. Three finger holes are positioned along the front, on the inside of the curve in the horn. The holes are small and angled slightly downwards. The distal end is stopped, but the tip of the horn has been flattened and a lateral hole cut through, possibly for a carrying strap.
