Grand pianoforte

Grand piano by John Broadwood and Sons, London, with a walnut case, no. 21558. A straight-strung ground, the initials 'W.J.' beside the serial number found also on a Broadwood grand (at Chirk Castle) dating from 1872/3. Two pedals with lyre shape on front. The three legs are twelve-sided and tapered with turned knop above and ring below, on large metal castors. Two carved scrolls are at top of legs. Ebony keyboard back.
