Crystallophone
An ebonised rectangular box containing an early 19th Century percussion Chrystallophone made by Crossley of Manchester. The exterior of the box is decorated with gold inlaid lines and on the lid is a gold painted oriental pagoda with bamboo trees. The lid is hinged. Inside are two horizontal compartments containing all the glass tone bars. The lower-ordinary notes, the upper for sharps and flats. Each bar has its musical letter painted on it. Circa 1804 - 27. All glass bars are detached, many broken.
