A wood and leather small 8-string mandolin (one steel string missing), the shell shaped faceted body painted in bold stripes of red, green and brown (the latter embellished with trailing fronds); the fingerboard and neck crudely finished and the whole varnished. A florally embroidered cotton strap attached. A printed label; 'A.W. GAMAGE LTD./HOLBORN LONDON' and inscribed in pen '£/- 2/3'.
