Harpsichord

A mahogany double manual harpsichord made by Abraham and Joseph Kirckman, London 1789. Inlaid boxwood and rosewood herringbone stringing, on turned tapered supports. The instrument is fitted with a Venetian Swell, an inner lid fitted with hinged shutters which are operated by a foot pedal. The tone and volume are controlled by opening or closing the shutters.
