Spike fiddle; goge; bow

Goge, spike fiddle. The body is formed from a hemispherical section of a gourd. The table is of skin with a roughly cut circular sound hole. The skin is secured to the body with a strip of brown material, possibly plastic, held in place with a nail. The material is wrapped around the neck at the junction with the body. The neck is a thick, slightly curved stick which passes through the body. The single string is of black horsehair, secured to the top of the neck with white cloth. The string passes over the sound table where it is supported by a wooden bridge, and is attached to a strip of black material that is nailed to the base of the body in the shape of an inverted V. A small piece of rosin is tied to the instrument by a length of white string. The out-curved bow is of similar wood to the instrument's neck. The black horsehair of the bow is secured to each end by white cloth.
