Spike fiddle; erhu
Erhu, spike fiddle wtih two strings. Octagonal body with wooden grille at the back. Skin sound table. Small rectangular wooden bridge. The wooden neck bisects the body, emerging at the distal end as a spike that functions as a string-holder. Two fluted wooden pegs for two (replacement?) gut strings. With bow of bamboo (Horniman Museum number: 1975.40a).
