Lute; yueqin
Yueqin, lute with four strings arranged as two double courses. The body is a circular shell varnished a golden colour. The table and back are flat and are of light brown wood. The bridge is half moon shaped, of dark brown wood (this has been re-glued in the wrong place), with a small, round sound hole on the sound table beneath. There are three raised frets on the fingerboard, and six raised frets glued to the sound table. There are four side entrant pegs, two on each side. The pegs are tapered and fluted with six ridges. The peg-box terminates in a flat, shaped finial with a label printed with Chinese characters citing the brand name 'Peacock' and the name of the city 'Tianjin'.
